Making a House a Home: A Cozy Cottage Tour in Lebanon, Tennessee

Today's video is super special. We're going to take you on a tour of one of our very favorite customers' homes. We've never been inside her house before, but our employee Kayla has been instrumental in helping her pull some things together.

Walking through the front door, the first thing we noticed was how amazing it smelled and how charming and cozy the lighting and decor were. This is the sweetest house.

Many people think you need a big house to make it beautiful, but that’s not true. You can make a house a home no matter the size.

Living Room

Jerry, the homeowner, isn’t a big fan of color.

So, when she came to the store looking for drapes, we chose something light and monochromatic with a bit of pattern. The embroidery was a great choice.

I love how she incorporated books and unique items.

The tall chair by the fireplace works so well, and the pop of color in the pillow adds a nice touch.

The scroll on the coffee table is a great example of playing up patterns with minimal colors.

Her botanical collage on the large wall is stunning.

The rug, in muted grays and off-whites with a touch of gold, complements the space perfectly.

Adding greenery, whether in trees or floral arrangements, brings nature inside, creating a soft and nurturing feeling.

Dining Room

Now we’re in the dining room. This old home has such beautiful features, like the fireplace and arched entryways.

Kayla helped Jerry choose a round dining table, which works great in this square space. It plays up the shapes in the room and improves traffic flow.

The fabric for the drapes is the same as what I have in my dining room, but in a darker color. It’s stunning and fits Jerry’s preference for minimal color while adding a touch of traditional southern style.

Kitchen

Moving to the kitchen, it’s amazing how functional and cozy it is despite not being huge.

The proportionally correct island in the middle uses raw wood that mimics the lighter tones of the cabinetry.

Jerry used two different types of tile, which works beautifully.

The monochromatic color scheme ties everything together seamlessly.

Master Bedroom

Now we’re in the master bedroom, which feels like an oasis. Jerry made smart choices to make this not-so-large room feel spacious.

The black open-air bed doesn’t feel chunky, and the art is in black and white, keeping the room cohesive with the rest of the house. The bedding looks so inviting.

Bathroom

The bathroom, though small, is beautifully remodeled. The glass doors prevent the space from feeling crowded, and the tile goes all the way up, giving the illusion of a larger space.

The black grout in the tile ties in with the other black tones in the room, creating a cohesive look.

Guest Bedroom

The guest bedroom is unique with its spiral staircase, which replaced a ladder leading to an upstairs room.

The original windows, with their wave, and the high drapes add charm.

The denim chambray drapes add a pop of color that’s still muted and blends with the rest of the house.

The chandelier is stunning.

Office

Up the spiral staircase is Jerry’s office, a light and airy space perfect for working from home.

The window by her desk overlooks her garden, providing a lovely view while working.

It feels private and secluded, an ideal work environment.

Backyard

Finally, we tour the backyard, which is filled with beautiful plants and a trendy tank pool.

These pools are a great solution for small yards or homes with little ones. The space is so inviting, and I wouldn’t mind staying here forever.

No matter the size of your home, you can make it special. I want to thank Jerry for letting us tour her home. It’s one of my favorite tours we’ve ever done. If you’re ever near Nashville, visit us in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, just 30 minutes away.
