How to Decorate Your Backyard Patio For Early Summer

We are going to be doing some outdoor decorating on my backyard patio. We are finally going to be transitioning from spring to summer, which I'm so excited about. I want to give you inspiration on how to make outdoor space more cozy, more inviting, and entertaining for your guests.

Flow problems

We've been hanging out outside, and I'm trying to figure out what's going to work for us.

The big issue is the pool gate.

We use this area a lot, so I don't want to put it where I had it because it'll prevent us from having access to it.

I want to have access to this side of the gazebo, so we had the pool guy come out, and he made some new holes that go the other way. It connects to that gate, so it crosses right where my chair is so I can rearrange the furniture, but I think the best idea is to scoot the gazebo a little bit. It's easy to move.

For aesthetics, I'm going to take out those flowers.

I'll probably put them somewhere else for now, then replant them. They're really messing with the vibes. It's not matching. There are so many other flowers ready to bloom, so I'm very excited about that.

Starting with a blank slate

I went ahead and removed everything because I wanted to start with a blank slate. Once everything was cleared out I could really focus on getting inspired with this little section. I started by sweeping up the floors.

I went ahead and added the striped rug that I had before. I put it angled so that it flowed with the gazebo and the way that the gazebo was angled.

Arranging furniture

Then, I played around with the furniture; I wanted to see how the placement would go. I ended up switching it entirely, but I finally found what worked, but it didn't flow well. So I went ahead and placed it how it used to be, and I found that was the perfect way to have it here.

This year, I decided that Walmart was going to be my go-to place for purchasing my summer items and almost everything else that's out there for decorating and entertainment,

Decor

We have a wind chime.

I added some beautiful decorative pillows that are perfect for the season; they're very neutral and very much my style.

For the coffee table, I went with a beautiful ribbed vase, and I love it so much.

I filled it in with pink petunias that I also picked up.

They are so beautiful; I love the pop of color for the summertime. I went ahead and just added some potting mix to the vase to fill in the gaps and watered it to make sure that it was nice and taken care of, of course.

The best part is that it does have a draining hole, so you don't have to worry about it getting too damp. I went ahead and added that to my coffee table, and it was the perfect touch.

For my chairs, I just added a little throw blanket on either side to make it a little bit cozier and inviting.

At the end, I added a little side table just to be able to place our drinks and whatnot.

Outdoor entertainment

So for entertainment, I decided that I would go with cornhole. I never really thought that this would be that fun because you're just throwing bean bags into a hole, but it's great. So anyway, I went ahead and purchased that.

I also picked up a gorgeous wicker tray, which is perfect to bring out our drinks and snacks.

On top of that, we also have this new playhouse, which I'm so excited to have.

The kids absolutely love it, and it's just another great way to entertain the kids.

That is everything I did to transform our space.

It's such an easy and inexpensive way to transform your outdoor space. It might not be a lot, but I think that this space now feels like a place where we can go outside and have some drinks and snacks, hop in the pool, or have the kids run around. They have so much to do, which is just so exciting.
