Transitional Formal Dining Room Ideas From Fall to Winter
Today, my dining room ideas are based on the changes I've made in my dining room. I've been adding black and white back to my house, from flowers to the curtain panels in the room. I have them paired with a solid pair of velvet curtain panels.
Floral arrangement
I started out making this arrangement thinking that this was going to be my fall look, but this time, I'm going to be bringing in the white foam flowers that I picked up from Home Goods. I am going to be changing the pine cones out. I decided to combine a beautiful shade of orange and gold.
Console table
I'm also gonna have to paint my pretty little console table. We're going to have to go back to the cream color.
I bought my two buffet lamps this summer, which are corded now. I did not want to pay $38 a piece for the battery-operated ones I liked on Amazon.
Now, we're going to begin decorating this console table.
I've already placed my lamps, and next, I'm going to bring in this tray. This is one of my favorite trays. I love the detail on it, and I love the antique gold. I love the handles. I'm just going to set it here.
Next is a wreath I'm going to go ahead and we're using it in a formal dining room.
I'm just going to take it and I'm going to sit it right here.
Next, we will go ahead and bring in these blinged-out pine cones.
I picked these up last year from Home Goods. They came as a set of three stems, so it would have been nine pine cones, and I've used the others throughout the house this fall.
I'm just going to take these, and I'm going to place the first one right here. Just kind of tuck it in behind the wreath. I'm going to take the next one, and I'm going to tuck it, but not quite as far because I want it to kind of hang over.
I ended up heading over to the Home Depot, and I chose a set of puck lights.
They come as a set of three, and I love the fact that they have a remote control. This is going to help me solve the solution with these buffet lamps. I'm only trying to achieve ambient light, so these will be perfect. I just took the self-adhesive, placed it on the back of the puck light, and then stuck it inside the lampshade.
I want you to note that we are decorating for fall, but this is easily transitional into the Christmas holiday. After I've finished this entire vignette here, you'll see that those other pieces that I'm going to use are easily removable, and I can just add in a decorative Christmas piece.
We're going to bring in this canister, and I'm just going to take this and sit it right here. This doesn't need very much at all to be completed.
The last things I will bring in are my salt and pepper shakers. I'm just going to set one here, and I'm going to sit one of them a little bit farther back. You just kind of move the leaves over a little bit. So I can get it tucked back.
Bookshelf decor
Next, we will add some finishing touches over here on the bookshelf.
We'll start here at the bottom shelf, and I'm just going to bring in this little fall wreath I picked up from Hobby Lobby a couple of years ago.
I will set it right there, and next, I will bring in my turkey. I'm going to take the turkey, and I'm going to get him nestled amongst this room.
I have my little sugar canisters I picked up probably two years ago. We're just going to take two of these, and I'm going to set one here, and then I'm just gonna set the other one here.
The last thing I will do here on this bottom shelf is bring in a pumpkin. I picked this pretty little thing up two years ago from Home Goods, and that's gonna wrap it up for the bottom shelf.
For the middle shelf, I'm going to bring in the biggest of the pieces that I have to put together to make the three-piece set I now have.
He is so big that he can certainly stand alone. I'm not going to add anything else to that shelf.
As we looked at the table setting, I kept it simple, really simple.
The napkins were hand towels; they were just what I needed.
Using the puck lights turned out to be a good solution.
As you can see, those outlets are pretty far from that table, and I just did not want those cords running against the wall like that. I'm enjoying the space throughout.
