Today, I'm sharing the French country shabby chic style of decor I have in my home. This design style combines worn-in and distressed elements with soft and romantic textures. Keep reading to discover how to seamlessly blend cozy fabrics, weathered furniture, and floral patterns to achieve this look.

As a bonus, I also want to share my best cleaning advice as I work in my home, room by room!

Bedroom

I'm going to do some very light cleaning, but as I was making my bed, I decided that I wanted to switch out my duvet cover. I wanted my bedroom to be like this place of total relaxation. And for some reason, when I have my white duvet cover on, it gives me more of the feeling that there's less busyness than with the floral print.

As much as I loved the floral duvet cover, I'm switching it out. And I was so happy that I did. All of the white from the duvet cover, the dresser, and the nightstands make the room feel very peaceful and calming.

Now we're going to head on downstairs to my living room. This room is a great place to see the difference between shabby chic and French country, with the bold printed fabrics and distressed paint right alongside the muted fabrics and elegant furniture.

I'm also going to be switching out the throw pillows in there. I'm over the blue; I didn't have it up long, but I am over the blue stripes. I'm switching those out to some really pretty floral print pillows. Less clutter equals less anxiety. Trust me, there's something to it.

I really wanted to add some floral print to the sofa. So I went through my bins with all of my pillow covers, and I found floral printed pillow covers that I purchased a long time ago. I actually think that they were purchased with a pillow.

I want to say that I found them at Home Goods, which is a great place to find French country shabby chic decorating ideas, and then I just have a neutral, larger size euro pillow. They are made with linen fabric, and I found them on Amazon.

Adding a little bit of scented wax to my wax warmer is going to make my room smell so amazing. And the scent that I'm using is a ginger lemongrass scent, and I found that at Walmart. I also found the warmer at Walmart.

Since I got rid of those blue striped pillow covers on the sofa, I thought I would get rid of the blue that was in my wreath. So instead of switching out the entire wreath, I decided that I was just going to take the blue out and replace it with a color that I found on one of those pillows.

So I decided to go with a peach color because I already had that decorated in my hutch and made it super easy. I just added those flowers to this wreath and then I put it back up and it looked like a completely different decor piece. And I love it. I love switching out my florals in the wreath to change the whole look.

I have done this probably four times with this exact wreath, but it's a really fun trick to do if you don't want to go out and buy all kinds of new stuff. You do not have to go out and shop and buy tons of home decor. Please look around your house. You could move stuff around. You can place different items in different rooms. You do not have to go and spend a ton of money doing it. And you do not have to go shopping every time you want to switch things out somewhere.

I did find these adorable green apples at Hobby Lobby and they look real, so I just wanted to share that with you. I think they look really cute in this wooden bowl sitting on my table. So if you want to find some faux fruit that doesn't look extremely fake, try Hobby Lobby. I know Pottery Barn has some as well. You can also find some on Amazon.

Even if you don't have a huge mess to clean in your kitchen, it is always so nice to just remove everything from the counters and just wipe everything down. Give your countertop a good clean with a nice scented cleaner.

When I'm finished wiping the countertops down and getting everything neatly put away, I am just going to take my vacuum and give it a quick sweep here in the kitchen. I'm also going to run it through the other two rooms. I did vacuum the entire downstairs, and everything is smelling super good and looking really clean, and I am already feeling a little more relaxed.
