Fall Deck Makeover: Decorating With Pumpkins, Mums & Cozy Touches

Hey sweet friends! Welcome back to my home and to my channel. Before we dive into decorating the deck, some of you have been asking about my little pumpkin patch, so here it is! Now, keep in mind, we are not pumpkin growers—look how big this pumpkin is! I can barely hold it… just kidding, guys!

So, let’s go ahead and pick some of these small pumpkins. I’m going to use a couple on my deck and the others on my front porch for some fall decorating. It looks like we’ll still be taking a trip to the pumpkin patch, though! But instead of going to Lowe’s, I found a local school teacher, just across from one of our schools, selling pumpkins and mums.

For now, let’s see how many of these little pumpkins we can find from our patch to use on the deck and porch.

I just love decorating outside for fall! I’m running a little behind—some of my neighbors already have their fall decorations out. Usually, I’m first in the neighborhood, but I’ve been lagging this year. I can’t wait to get my deck all decorated and enjoy it for the fall season, especially with my sister visiting. She’s been loving the back deck! I’ll also be decorating my front porch and mailbox for fall.

I want to take the time to clean up the pumpkins a bit. They’ve got some dirt on them, but I’m loving the colors this year. One is a bright yellow, but most are neutral, which looked so adorable in my neutral-colored kitchen. But these pumpkins will be heading outside for decorating.

Fall just makes me so happy—the pumpkins, the mums, the changing leaves. Even though colder weather is setting in, it’s such a beautiful time of year. I love driving around, seeing the leaves change, and those gorgeous autumn skies. You’ll have to let me know what your favorite season is in the comments below! I love fall and spring the most, because the change is so dramatic. I do love Christmas, but for the outdoors, it’s fall and spring for me.

Now, back to the deck! I’ve cleaned everything off, wiped down the windows, swept the deck, and prepped it for my fall decorations. We’ve already got our wood up here for winter, so let’s start with the potting bench.

I’m keeping it simple—just a few fall touches like a pumpkin, pine cones, and maybe a few little decorations to keep it true to its potting bench roots.

I’m also using this little “Autumn Leaves & Pumpkin Please” sign, which I’ve had forever. Once I’m done using it inside, I move it out to the porch, and eventually, it’ll go to the booth or a garage sale. I try to reuse my decor as much as I can!

I found these little cinnamon-scented brooms and placed them in a trough on top of the potting bench. They smell amazing out here on the porch!

I’ve had this harvest sign for many years, and I’m going to hang it above the potting bench.

I’m keeping the decor simple—just some birdhouses, terracotta pots, and a little bird. That’s about it for the bottom of the bench.

I thrifted this item that I’m placing on the left side of the bench. If you want to know how I put it together, it’s over on my other channel.

On this little table that I thrifted for $20 at a yard sale—brand new, by the way—I love that it has cast iron legs, so it’s not going anywhere in the wind. I just added a little plant there.

I also brought out this plant stand next to the chair, where I’ll probably add a mum and a pumpkin.

Then, I’m hanging a welcome pumpkin sign from Hobby Lobby that I got many years ago. They still sell them, so if you like it, check it out!

Here’s the little pumpkin crate Larry and I made, and I’ve put some throw blankets in there for cool nights.

And this is how it all turned out!
