Welcome to Living It Country: Turning a Tiny Home Into a Farmhouse

In today's video, we revisit a home that has undergone a stunning transformation. This charming abode in Texas started as a tiny home and has evolved into a beautifully styled farmhouse. I know you're going to love the changes.

Let's welcome Tammie from Our Prairie Farmhouse Blog and tour her gorgeous home.

Let's start our tour right at the front door of our newly remodeled house.

Upon entering, you'll step directly into the living room, which seamlessly opens into the kitchen area.

I love to decorate in an early American Primitive farmhouse style, with a touch of Colonial influence. I blend these styles together to create a unique and inviting space.

Recently, I acquired an amazing cabinet from a friend named Tina, who lives in Oklahoma. Tina travels far and wide to find these beautiful treasures, and she shares them on her Facebook page, The Skinny Pig LLC.

Most of the lighting in the house, including the chandelier, comes from Carriage House Lighting.

Another favorite piece, a primitive cabinet, was found at a local antique store called Nana's Antiques in Hobbs, New Mexico.

We've been busy working on our yard, though it's not quite picture-perfect yet.

Inside, I've been collecting baskets to hang in the kitchen area from the wood beams. I'm still deciding on bar stools, so for now, we don't have any.

For my fall decorations, I've kept it simple with apples and a dried sunflower.

On one wall, I have a collection of samplers that I love.

Moving into the dining room, you'll see I prefer a minimalist approach. On the table, there's a firkin, also known as a sugar bucket, along with some pewter candlesticks, a barrel, and a jug in the corner.

One of my recent favorites is a pie safe, another find from Tina at The Skinny Pig LLC Antiques.

The washstand in our home was made by my husband's brother.

It's a replica of one their grandparents had, and he made one for each of the kids in the family.

Next, we see the pantry and then we enter the master bedroom, which also leads into the bathroom.

Back in the kitchen, many people are surprised to learn that what looks like a cabinet is actually our refrigerator:

Our wingback chairs are Lazy Boy, and the Camelback sofa adds a classic touch.

Upstairs, there's an open loft that serves as a guest room, decorated with our grandbabies in mind.

The quilt rack belonged to my mom's mom, who made quilts on it. Although I don't have many quilts right now, I've used an antique coverlet to dress it up.

The little rocking horse was made by my husband's dad for the grandkids, and now the great-grandkids get to enjoy it.

The dolls were made by my friend Maggie, who lives in Ireland.

Another fun piece is a checkerboard table I found at an antique store.

Now, let's head downstairs. In the hallway, there's another bathroom and a laundry room where I installed an old sink I found years ago at a barn sale in Oklahoma. My husband helped me restore it, and I'm thrilled to have it installed now.

For now, I have a chair by the back door, but I plan to add more coat hooks or peg rails for convenience. The lights in this area are also from Carriage House Lighting.

Many have asked how the new house connects to the original tiny home. We built the tiny home with the intention of expanding, so we added a door where there was once a window to seamlessly connect the two.

The tiny home now serves as a den and a guest space. My husband and I spend a lot of time here in the evenings, watching TV. This used to be our master bedroom when we only had the tiny home, and now it will be a guest room.

Thank you all so much for joining me on this house tour. If you have any questions about anything I didn't mention, feel free to leave a comment below.

I hate to say this as I now you put a lot into it. But I live in a small house and know how precious storage is. When I look at the kitchen and see knives taking a wall I want to cry. Please put upper cabinets there. Also. There was too much clutter. A little is great but too much is clutter.
