Take a Tour of My French Country Home With Neutral Decor

French country home decor in neutral colors is absolutely beautiful. I decided to show you how I decorated my kitchen and family room using neutral colors and French country decor. I love my French country kitchen most of all!

Before

This was my patriotic summer decor. I wanted to switch it all over to neutral decor.

I took it all down and cleaned my mantel and hutch using a rose-scented Mrs. Meyer’s all-purpose cleaner.

1. Mirror

I found this thrifted mirror at the thrift store for a few dollars and gave it a fresh coat of paint. It’ll go right up on my mantel.

2. Birdcage with stacked tea cups

I wanted to keep things simple for this mantel. I used stacked tea cups under a little birdcage to add to that French country look. It’s a great way to display tea cups that I normally have stored away.

3. Sofa

I added some big, fluffy cream-colored pillows plus pillows with a French country-style ticking pillow cover on a longer pillow.

4. Coffee table ottoman

I put a mirror on the ottoman to act as a tray for a wooden riser, a cloche, battery-operated candles, plus a little greenery placed in a copper mug.

5. Hutch and corner shelf

I wanted a very big change here. I shopped my house to decorate the hutch. It’s so much fun to switch things out and use things you already have.

I decorated the corner shelf first with pretty stacked floral plates and some greenery.

I added a lot of height on top of the hutch with an urn with greenery, florals, and lanterns.

The baskets add a lot of texture to the open shelving area without looking too overwhelming or cluttered.

Before

I did not want to buy more things to decorate so I used what I had. I started by cleaning, decluttering, and freeing up space on my countertops. Cleaning is really the best way to decorate.

I just stacked a cutting board and added a little oil warmer lamp where I needed some light on my counter. It’s all sitting on a small mirror tray. I put a simple white vase in front of the cord to hide it.

I put a cute circular basket on my table just to jazz it up a bit. You can find so many cute baskets everywhere from HomeGoods to Ross.

I hope this tour gave you a ton of French country decorating ideas. Neutral colors are calming and can be a great transition between seasons. Let me know what you think in the comments.
