My Front Door & Entryway Makeover With Walmart Items

Today, I am doing a front door entryway makeover with Better Homes & Gardens products from Walmart.

I recently made a few changes that had a huge impact, not only by using beautiful artwork created by one of my children but also by updating the furniture pieces in the front door entry to make things more functional for the family.

Before the makeover

Now, here's a quick look at what the front door entryway used to look like before. After a recent update in the family room, I've definitely decided that I'm moving slowly but surely away from the farmhouse style.

We've always had what I call a wall of fame at the front door entry, but I wanted it to make more of an impact. We also needed to do something about finishing the front door.

Gallery wall

I decided to start with the gallery wall first since that's the area I usually struggle with the most.

I find it most helpful to tape off the space you're going to be working with and then cut out either construction paper or wrapping paper down to the size of your frames and play around with those rather than trying to put holes in the wall.

This will give you a chance to try a couple of different ideas before you're ready to commit.

For even more impact, you can use either all black and white photography or the same color frame and varying sizes, like the beautiful brass gallery wall frames.

Furniture

Next, it was time to update the furniture pieces to make them a little more functional.

I got rid of the bench in front of the stairs that no one ever sat on and replaced it with matching console tables for shoes, keys, and handbags.

I also updated the wooden farmhouse mirror and lamps with something a little more modern and reflective of what we have going on in the family room.

Now, everything feels more connected.

Artwork wall

I thought it would be really cool to do something special right across from the gallery wall. So I used the same frames that I used on the gallery wall, but I had my daughter create some beautiful artwork that we could display for the entire family to see every day. And I think she did a phenomenal job. I know I'm her mom, but I think she's outstanding.

Table styling

I styled the table with this gorgeous gold lantern pillar candle holder. I carried it over with some other smaller lanterns over on the staircase. This obviously isn't practical for every day, but it makes a very welcoming and warm impression for a guest who is coming over to visit.

Pillows and baskets

I'm the type who feels like you can never have enough pillows and blankets. We love them in the family room, so I put baskets everywhere so that we could store them and make them look pretty, too. I finished off the front door with a nice dark finish. I think it completed everything perfectly, and I'm delighted with the entryway update.

With just a few changes, the entryway definitely feels more like home and more connected to the rest of the house.

I hope you were able to get some great ideas and get your creative juices flowing. What was your favorite part of the makeover? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Very pretty, but I am curious why you took away the bench (perfect place by the front door to remove shoes) and replaced it with a cabinet, unless of course you needed the storage more? Your home looks very bright and inviting.
