French Country Decorating Ideas for Spring: Soft Blues & Sage Greens
Today, I’ll take you through my family room and kitchen where I’m switching it up a little with French country decorating ideas for spring.
I added soft blues and sage greens to my neutrals throughout the spaces to add a peaceful, cozy feel as I transition from winter to spring. Let me show you!

Before
I used a lot of reds and burgundy to decorate for Christmas but I thought it was time to lighten things up a bit and take that dark away. I’m going to subtly add some softer colors to my home.
Sofa and pillows
First, let me tell you how much I love my sofa. It has covers you can take off and wash. Now, to the pillows.
I bought classic French country blue toile pillow covers that are just so pretty, affordable, and such good quality. I iron my pillow covers before I put them on the pillow inserts.
I used to buy whole pillows at HomeGoods so I’d end up with a ton of pillows but lately, I've just been using pillow covers. That’s less expensive and you don’t have to store a bunch of pillows.
Here, I'm changing out red for blue, and keeping the linen pillow covers as they are.
3. Mantel
I was going to completely redo the mantel but I really love the planter I used with red flowers so all I need to do is switch out the florals. I went through my bins and pulled out green florals, hydrangeas, some little floral picks, and a eucalyptus garland to put in the planter.
I added rustic-style birds on some faux books to bring in the spring element without pushing it too much. These little birds were sitting in my china cabinet.
I like to move things around and it really makes me feel like there are new items in a room when I do this so I don’t go out and purchase things every time I want to redecorate. I highly suggest looking in other rooms and just moving things around. You’d be surprised what you’ll find.
4. Valance
I am obsessed with toile. I switched out the red toile valance in the kitchen with a blue toile fabric. I love the look of soothing blue and white in a kitchen.
Greenery and accessories
I added a little green on my wall by adding a wreath on a cutting board. I hung another simple green wreath on my china cabinet using a cream ribbon. It’s so simple but added a little tiny pop of greenery.
