Cozy Fall Transformation & Living Room Refresh

Fall is officially here, and today, I’m diving into all things cozy and warm as I get my home ready for the season. Today, I’ll also be cleaning and prepping the fireplace for those cooler nights ahead and giving my living room a little seasonal refresh. So grab a coffee or a glass of wine, and let’s get started!

Fireplace TLC for Fall

Let’s give the fireplace a little TLC before we start using it regularly. This part is so simple—I basically just remove the glass rocks at the beginning of the season, wash off all the dust, and refuel.

Some of you may remember we DIY'd this fireplace a few years ago. It’s a net-zero ethanol fireplace, and I absolutely love it! What’s great about this fireplace is that it’s clean-burning, meaning no smoke or ash, and it’s super easy to maintain.

Checking the Fuel

Checking the fuel is a breeze, and once it’s topped off, you’re good to go. There’s no need for chimney cleaning, and these fireplaces can be installed just about anywhere. Plus, it wasn’t a major renovation when we put it in. This fireplace has been a great addition to the room, especially in the cooler months when we can open up the sliding doors and enjoy a cozy fire.

Cozy Living Room Refresh

With the kitchen smelling amazing and the fireplace prepped, let’s move on to styling the living room for fall. I’m starting with the sofa. I introduced these warm, earthy tones last season and still love them, so they’re staying. I’m layering different textures and colors to create a warm and cozy vibe.

Fun Trends for Fall Decor

I love how creative you can get with your styling this time of year. I’ve seen fun trends like pumpkin pillows and fall leaf pillows—such a cool way to show off your personality! You can mix in soft fabrics like teddy bear material, too. I’m finishing the sofa with a warm, cozy blanket.

Styling the Ottoman

For the ottoman, I’m keeping things simple but impactful. First, I add my favorite ottoman tray, which has these rich, contrasting textures that work for any season. I’ll style the tray with a few seasonal pieces, like a gorgeous coffee table book and some fall accents.

I also picked up one of those mini table lamps—super on-trend this season. I found one at HomeGoods for less than $20, and I’m obsessed! It has three light settings, is rechargeable, and adds just the right ambiance.

Of course, I’m also adding a bit of candlelight. Target has some fabulous new fall products, including tinted glass jars. Finally, I toss in a few squishy mini pumpkins for the perfect pop of color.

Mantle Styling

Lastly, we’re tackling the mantle. You know I love garlands, but I’m switching it up this year. I’m bringing in traditional elements like cast iron taper holders and a green ceramic pumpkin for color. I also found a beautiful earthy glass vessel at HomeGoods that looks way more expensive than it was—only $15!

To finish, I added these stunning floral stems, which burst with color and really tie the whole look together.

Until Next Time...

And that’s it! We are officially styled for fall. If you got at least one new idea from this article, let me know in the comments below. Until next time, love and peace!

Do you have a video or info on building your fireplace. I’d like to build one in an outdoor courtyard. Can this type of FP be used out doors?
