Fall Porch Decor Ideas: Decorate With Me

Shonda and I are so happy to share fall porch decor with you today. We have officially begun decorating for the fall and both started outside. Shonda is decorating what we call the side porch.

What we call the side porch is a little area right outside what used to be her guest bedroom. That area is now a lounge area.

Dark brown Adirondack chairs

To anchor this side of the side porch, Shonda has brought in her Adirondack chairs in a color called dark brown, but they come in multiple colors and also have a matching side table for your Adirondack chairs.

Mustard color cushions

Cushions

In choosing the cushions for the chairs, she wanted something that would pop against the alabaster white of the house, so she chose these cushions in a beautiful mustard color.

Thrifted welcome sign

Sign

That welcome sign was recently picked up at a thrift store.

Fall accent piece

Accent piece

This other special little piece we picked up last fall, I believe, was in October at an outdoor fall festival. She knew she would love to have something like this as an accent for her fall decor.

DIY scarecrow

Scarecrow

We have another thrift store find, a scarecrow, because Shonda knew that she wanted to add a little bit of height to this side of the sitting area, and this is the perfect piece.

Shonda did not spend hardly any money to create this fall look here on the side porch. She did buy some florals as well. Shonda had mentioned in a fall haul that we shared earlier that she likes to customize her scarecrows, and we were asked how she does that. This is exactly what she does.

Today, she's choosing to use some wood stain, but you can also use it like a spray. You just have to hold the spray can far back and mist it a little bit so as not to make it become oversaturated.

Adding wood stain to the scarecrow

Today, she's just using a sponge and her wood stain in a color called dark walnut, and she just simply blots it on.

After achieving the look she wants, she simply lets her dry overnight. Shonda has been doing this for years, and she's never had any problem as far as the weather. Once it dries, it is solid. If you're looking for some affordable scarecrows this season, Ollie's has them for $5.

Planter from Ross

Planter decor

Now, we'll move over to the other side of the side porch, and she will start by bringing in a planter. She picked this up at Ross. She intended to use them inside, but they were perfect for what she wanted to do with this outside fall look here.

We also have an exceptional older piece that Shonda thought would be perfect. It has a wicker on it, and that wicker is the same that you see on a lot on a lot of outdoor patio furniture. It gave Shonda the idea to use it here outside.

Planter with corn stalks

This floor base is huge, so we felt it needed a large presentation. After riding to a couple of big box stores and a local farmers market looking for corn stalks, we happened to ride by a house with a corn field. We stopped and asked if they would be able to purchase some corn stalks from them, and so that's exactly what we did.

As you can see, she's placed both of her planters, one on either side of the door, and she will add mums.

These were $10.98; she got them from Home Goods, and I believe the blooms will be yellow. That's kind of a theme here, and to those, we are just going to take these little stems now these came directly from the dollar store. This is something so small with a minimal cost, but it packs a big punch.

Fall wreath on the door

Wreath

Now, all that's left to do is the addition of the wreath, and her fall look here on the side porch is complete.
