New Fall Decor Ideas For Your Home: Living Areas & Kitchen

When it comes to decorating our home for fall, I always gravitate towards creating a space that feels simple, calm, warm, cozy, and inviting.

Today, I’m excited to share some hints of fall that I’ve incorporated into our entryway and, of course, everyone’s favorite gathering spot—the kitchen. I’ve also got a few fall ideas you can easily incorporate into your home this season.

Cabinet Makeover

Lately, I’ve been loving the look of fluted design furniture. To me, it adds a touch of sophistication to any space. So, I headed to Home Depot to see what I could find to give one of my existing cabinets a facelift with that fluted design look I’ve been dreaming of.

I came across some three-dimensional MDF panels, which were perfect for what I had in mind. Normally, Home Depot would cut the panels for you, but at my local store, they wouldn’t cut this type of wood. My husband, ever the handy partner, assured me we could handle it ourselves. Over the years, we’ve accumulated all the tools we need for this kind of project.

I’ve had this cabinet for years. It was originally gold, and then I painted it and added a little faux finish that I still absolutely love because it complements the blues in our home. With the cost of furniture these days, I’m definitely not getting rid of it, but I am giving it a facelift with these three-dimensional MDF panels, which are actually designed for walls. We’re working smarter, not harder, by repurposing them.

After removing the cabinet doors, my husband cut the panels in the garage, and we used our kitchen island as a little workstation. We applied the panels using Liquid Nails Fuze*It Max. It’s a bit pricey, but trust me, it’s worth it. It bonds to just about anything in any weather condition—you can even use it underwater! The bond grabs within 10 minutes, but you need to let it cure for about 12 to 24 hours for long-term strength.

Once I saw the finished cabinet, I realized I wasn’t loving the blue, so I changed the color, which you’ll see later on.

Glamming Up My Fall Decor

To give a little more glam to the fall decor, I used my go-to Rub 'n Buff on the stems of some pumpkins, just buffing the raised parts to add a subtle shine.

My decorating style leans predominantly towards glam, with lots of blues, whites, and golds in our home. This can make it a bit tricky when decorating for fall, as I don’t necessarily want to change the entire look of our home for just one season.

Fall Cabinet Top

I had some stems in my stash that I’d never used, and they ended up being perfect for the more natural look I wanted this season. There’s just something about fall that calls for soft and silky vibes paired with bare branches.

If there’s a color you love, don’t be afraid to use it this season. Hopefully, this inspires you to incorporate any color of pumpkins into your decor. Stick to colors you already have in your home instead of buying new stuff. This way, your decor can easily transition into Thanksgiving.

Fall Coffee Table

This tray from HomeGoods is one of my favorites. It has a casual feel with its linen lining, but it matches a few other pieces I already have, and I love its size and scale.

I added a few of my ginger jars along with a decorative box that’s not only pretty but functional—we keep the remotes inside.

My new obsession is a USB lamp from HomeGoods. Amazon sells them too, but I love the convenience of having it in multiple spots around the house, including in our RV.

Believe it or not, my 5-year-old nephew knows how to play chess! I got a chess game for him, but I chose pieces that go perfectly with the blue and white decor.

I also added some baby pumpkins to an existing arrangement I made, just to give a subtle hint of fall.

I use this throw blanket year-round, but it has a nice pop of color that warms up the space a bit more during fall.

Let me know—do you like to decorate for the fall season, or are you holding out for Christmas?

Kitchen Fall Decor

As a seasonal decorator, I have almost every color you can imagine, but rather than adding extra decor, I prefer to simply swap out what I normally have.

In the kitchen, something as simple as changing out a towel can change the entire vibe.

Fall Coffee Station

I also added some pumpkin canisters near our coffee station. These canisters are functional for storing snacks or coffee pods, and if you like seasonal decor, now’s the time to check out your local HomeGoods.

For breakfast, I love using a toast rack I found at HomeGoods. It makes serving breakfast feel like you’re being pampered in a fancy hotel. It even has a spot for your favorite butter or jam.

And again, that USB mini lamp comes in handy in the mornings when I’m dragging myself to the kitchen for coffee without wanting to turn on the overhead lights.

If you’re looking to save some money, check out HomeGoods, HomeSense, or TJ Maxx for these lamps—they’re a fraction of the price compared to Amazon.

I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s video and that it’s inspired you to get into the mood for fall. Thanks so much for watching!
