From Spring to Christmas: How to Style Your Basket for Every Season

Hello there! I’m so glad you’re here. If you’re new to my channel, my name is Rebecca, and today’s video is all about taking a few staple pieces and decorating them in various ways for different seasons.

I’m excited to show you how you can transform a simple vegetable basket into seasonal decor for spring, Valentine’s Day, summer, fall, and Christmas. Let’s dive in!

For today’s project, I’m using a vegetable basket that I thrifted for just $4, along with a couple of risers. You’ll see how even a bowl can make a perfect riser.

I have a small wooden bowl that I’ll use to elevate two Ironstone pitchers, one of which is from Hobby Lobby. I also picked a small Ironstone creamer to place on top of the bowl.

Last summer, you may remember the basket I decorated with faux lettuce and seed packets. Many of you loved that setup, so I thought it would be fun to show you some new decorating ideas with the same basket. Let’s start with a spring theme!

Spring

For spring, I’m using a candle holder as a riser, but feel free to get creative with whatever risers you have at home.

On top of the holder, I’m placing a birdcage that I bought from Hobby Lobby years ago. Recently, I’ve seen similar birdcages at yard sales. Inside, I’m adding a little nest with eggs, but you could also use a bird or flowers—just use what you have on hand.

I’m adding a yellow check tea towel, which matches my farmhouse style, but you can use any bright color for spring. I also have some tulips from Amazon that I’m reusing, and a small bird figurine in front of the basket.

If you prefer, you could add a bunny or other spring-themed figurine. Adding tulips to the vase fills it out nicely and adds more layers to the arrangement.

Valentine’s Day

Next, we’re going to decorate for Valentine’s Day. I’ve added some dollies, but if you don’t have any, you can use a napkin or tea towel instead.

I’m using pink peonies, as I didn’t have red roses, and they look adorable in the basket. I’ve also included a couple of galvanized hearts, one in the vase and one in front of the basket. To finish, I’m adding a candle to enhance the Valentine’s Day vibe.

Farmhouse Style

Moving on, let’s decorate in a farmhouse style. I’ve added an old cutting board, which I thrifted years ago and love for its faded, worn look, to the back of the basket.

I’ve also included a thrifted ball jar, which cost $3. For this farmhouse setup, I’m adding some wooden utensils, a green check tea towel, and a rolling pin to the front. It’s simple but charming.

Summer

For a touch of summer, I’m introducing some hydrangeas in light, white colors. This arrangement works well for summer or the 4th of July.

I also found a blue and white heritage plate at a thrift store and added some daisies to the basket as an alternative to the hydrangeas. If desired, you could also include a towel for added color.

Fall

Now, let’s focus on a neutral fall theme. I’ve added a candlestick and a pumpkin on top. I chose a muted orange tea towel with a hint of teal and some neutral-colored hydrangea stems from Hobby Lobby.

The pumpkin is also from Hobby Lobby, but use whatever you have available. I’ve added a small squirrel figurine, although I might paint it to better suit the color scheme. The pumpkin on the candlestick could be a bit larger for more impact.

Here’s another alternative for a fall basket below. To complete the fall look, I’m including some wheat in a vase for added texture.

Bee Theme

I’m using the candlestick again, this time with a black and white striped tea towel that transitions nicely from summer into fall.

I’ve also added some sunflowers, which are actually napkin rings, demonstrating how I’m utilizing items I already have on hand rather than purchasing new decorations.

I’m keeping the same basket for all seasons, and for a bee-themed touch, I’m incorporating a little bee figurine on a riser.

Although the riser is a bit bright, I’ve also showcased the arrangement without it, and I find it cute either way.

However, I think I’d prefer to leave the riser out for a more cohesive look.

Christmas

Lastly, for a Christmas theme, I’ve added a small tree to the basket. Although I didn’t use risers or the candlestick this time, you can bring out your Christmas decorations with a red check napkin or any color of your choice.

Consider adding ornaments to the tree or around the basket. Black candlesticks add a nice touch, and if you have a small nativity set, it would be a great addition to this holiday setup.

I hope today’s video inspires you to decorate your baskets for every season. Look for my new weekend inspiration videos weekly, and thanks for joining me!
